See what Students, Parents, and Guardians are saying
" We love our music lessons. Sonny and Frankie have fun, and feel a sense of accomplishment when they have learned something. They are able to show their family members and friends their skills. The lessons are comfortable, and lack any type of pressure that would give Sonny and Frankie anxiety around learning a new skill. I like my lessons because it gives me another positive hobby to pursue."
"The communication has been excellent." "The lesson plans are always easily available online." "I like learning recognizable songs, as do Sonny and Frankie." "The lessons have been great, a bit of theory, scales, and songs makes the lessons interesting."

Philosophy
I believe that music study is important because music is a universal language that’s speaks to everyone in its own unique way. I believe that music enhances the mind, body, and soul. I personally have a learning disability and learning music has helped me see that I can do and be a smart and successful human being!
When I was growing up, I had a love hate relationship learning to play the piano. I quit taking lessons after I completed my grade 8 RCM in piano. I took some time away and wanted to pursue a job as an elementary school teacher. I struggled through the courses I needed for the degree and eventually dropped out. I found my way back to learning music and combined my love of teaching to help students find the joy in learning a musical instrument. I am continuously learning and improving my teaching abilities through RCM Courses such as the Elementary Piano Teaching Course.
I would like students to remember their lessons with me as a fun time of learning through musical games and to be amazed by how much they have achieved. I strive to instill discipline, structure, creativity, and personal expression into each lesson by providing focus to the four fundamentals of music and musical expression.
During lessons and for at home practice, I like to use book materials such as Bastien, Piano Adventures, RCM, Hal Leonard, and my own Kmusic and Design Workbooks. I would like students to feel comfortable adding their own creativity and flair to each lesson with guided exercises. I believe standard classical repertoire is wonderful to help build a solid foundation. I specialize in Classical RCM specific material and believe students should be able to choose the style of music they would like to learn but also have a taste for multiple other styles and genres.
Each year I host a winter and spring recital. For each recital I conduct, students are individually recorded during their specific lesson time in a relaxed 1 on 1 environment. Students can then decide if they feel comfortable sharing their video with my other students or have only their family see their recital video. I am thrilled when I see students in previous years, who have chosen for only their families to see their recital video; to feeling confident in their musical ability to share their recital video with the rest of my students the following years.
When students are taking a break from recital practice, I encourage students to create their own songs, expand their musical knowledge and repertoire. I have experience in playing by ear, improvising, and composing and I would love to pass along my knowledge to my students.
I encourage anyone ages 3 and up to experience the joys of learning to play an instrument. I hope to pass along my musical knowledge and the love of learning.
